NEW DELHI, Aug. 11 (Xinhua) -- India has emerged as the second most optimistic nation in the world after Indonesia in consumer confidence level in terms of job prospects, personal finances and willingness to spend, reported the Press Trust of India.
The news agency quoted a survey by global consultancy firm the Nielsen as saying consumer confidence in India is "on upswing" and registered a 13-point rise to 112 index points in the second quarter this year.
Indonesia stood ahead of India with 113 points and became the top optimistic nation in the world consumer confidence.
The report quoted the Nielsen as saying recent elections in India have had a positive effect on Indians' sentiments towards its economy.
"With the United Progressive Alliance government back in power for the second term, consumers are more confident that political and policy continuity will help recover the Indian economy," the report quoted Nielsen Company Associate Director Consumer Research Vatsala Pant as saying.
