ISLAMABAD, Aug. 4 (Xinhua) -- Afghanistan Tuesday called on Pakistan to allow its trucks to deliver fruit and other items in major Pakistani cities, local news agency reported.
Afghan delegation in talks with Pakistani counterparts said that Kabul allows Pakistani trucks to take their goods anywhere in Afghanistan but Islamabad is not extending same facility, the local News Network International reported.
Pakistan and Afghanistan opened two-day talks in Islamabad on anew transit trade agreement.
The two countries had signed an Memorandum of Understanding in Washington on May 6 to ink a new Afghanistan, Pakistan Transit Trade Agreement. According to the understanding, a joint Afghanistan Pakistan Transit Trade Coordination Committee will be set up, which "will coordinate and resolve all issues relating to cross-border commerce and inland transit trade."
According to Afghan delegation, there are 65 percent progress in the meeting and the talks will continue on Wednesday.
This is the third round of talks on the proposed draft of a new transit trade agreement since the two sides have signed the agreement.
