PYONGYANG, July 30 (Xinhua) -- A commentary carried by the official Rodong Sinmun daily of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK) on Thursday accused Japan of attempting to reinvade Korea by claiming disputed islets as its territory.
The commentary said that the Dokdo islets, or Takesshima islets in Japanese, are Korean territory in terms of history, geography, and the international law.
Japan's act of claiming the islets as its territory in its 2009 defense white paper had severely breached the dignity and sovereignty of the Korean nation and angered its people, the commentary said.
The commentary supported South Korea's actions of protesting and denouncing Japan's attempt to grab the disputed islets.
It called on the Korean people, home and abroad, to be united and fight back Japan's conspiracy.
The disputed islets are to the east of the Korean peninsula. The two Koreas and Japan claim the islets are their territory.
