PYONGYANG, July 21 (Xinhua) -- A 10-volume dictionary of Chinese-derived Korean words has been compiled in the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK), the official Minju Joson daily said on Tuesday.
The dictionary includes more than 300,000 Korean words derived from Chinese and more than 600,000 sample sentences.
The dictionary sets a scientific foundation for research into Korean history and folklore, the newspaper said.
Chinese had been used as the Korean written language before Korean characters were invented in 1444.
