KABUL, July 3 (Xinhua) -- Five employees of an Indian road construction company were killed as a roadside bomb struck their vehicle in Khost province, in east Afghanistan, on Friday, a local official said.

"The incident occurred on Khost-Gerdez highway in Wazi Zadran district this morning, killing four Afghans and one Russian national, all the employees of BSC company," the governor of WaziZadran district Abdul Wali told Xinhua.

However, he did not identify the full name of the company, adding BSC has been involved in road construction activities in east Afghanistan over the past three years.

The official blamed the "enemies of peace," a term used against Taliban militants for the attack.

Conflict-plagued Afghanistan, according to a UN report issued recently, has seen a increase of security incident by 43 percent in the first four month this year, compared with the same period in 2008.
