CAIRO, June 30 (Xinhua) -- Arab League Secretary General (AL) Amr Moussa condemned on Tuesday Israeli offensive on vessel known as the "Spirit of Humanity," which was sailing to Gaza Strip with humanitarian aid and activists on board.
Moussa considered that this offensive proves continuation of Israeli practices against the Palestinian people in Gaza Strip and against breaking the Israeli blockade posed on the Strip.
He asked all international concerned parties, especially UN Security Council, to take action so as to stop the Israeli practices which violate the international humanitarian law.
Israel Defense Forces (IDF) on Tuesday confirmed that it intercepted a cargo boat bound for the Gaza Strip with humanitarian aid and activists on board.
Meanwhile, a U.S.-based pro-Palestinian movement on Tuesday accused the Israeli navy of "abducting" 21 pro-Palestinian activists aboard an aid boat heading for the besieged Gaza port.
The ship, sponsored by the U.S.-based Free Gaza Movement, departed from Cyprus on Monday in defiance of a sea blockade imposed by Israel upon the Palestinian enclave. The movement said the vessel carried 21 pro-Palestinian activists from 11 countries, three tons of medical supplies, toys, as well as rehabilitation and reconstruction kits.
