SANTIAGO, June 2 (Xinhua) -- The Chilean Public Health Ministry announced on Tuesday that the country has seen its first case of death from A/H1N1 flu.
Fernando Vera, 37, died on Sunday from respiratory insufficiency believed to be linked with the A/H1N1 flu virus, the ministry said.
Vera was hospitalized on Friday at the Base Hospital in Puerto Montt, south Chile, and developed complications 24 hours later. Tests showed that he was infected with the new flu virus.
