The final score was 1-1 draw but Barca advanced on away goals.

Barcelonan suffered several major absentees, including Thiery Henry and Carles Puyol. The game was lopsided from the start. Chelsea had most of the procedings throught the match.

In the 9th minute, Frank Lampard lobbed the ball in the air right outside the area. Michael Essien scored with a stunning volley to beat Victor Valdes.

Minutes before the break, Florent Malouda was hauled down inside the area but the referee gave Chelsea a free-kick.
