Bayer Leverkusen scored 3 goals in extra time to beat Mainz in their German DFB Pokal cup semi-final in Dusseldorf on Tuesday. That result means they will now play the winners of Wednesday's match between Hamburger SV and Werder Bremen.

It was Leverkusen who opened the deadlock in the 82nd minute with Angelos Charisteas's goal.

But Mainz then equalized when Aristide Bance headed home to make it 1-1.

The match then went to extra time, when goals from Arturo Vidal, Simon Rolfes and Michal Kadlec sealed the 4-1 win.
