Special Report:   Harbin 24th Winter Universiade

YABULI, Northeast China, Feb. 27 (Xinhua) -- Russia completed its clean sweep of all 10 cross-country golds at the 24th Winter Universiade after winning the last two events in the Yabuli Ski Resort here on Friday.

Artem Zhmurko clocked one hour, 27 minutes and 0.7 seconds for the men's 30 kilometers classical while Marina Chernousova led a Russian domination of top four places in the women's 15 kilometers race.

Crossing the line 3.8 seconds behind Zhmurko, Petr Novak of the Czech Republic could be contented with a silver in the men's 30km classic competition where IIya Mashkov of Russia settled for the bronze with 1:27:05.6.

In the women's action, Chernousova notched up a winning time of 48 minutes and 2.3 seconds, edging silver medal winner Julia Ivanova by one second.

Yulia Tchekaleva and Olga Kuziukova finished third and fourth with 48:04.2 and 48:58.7 respectively.

The best non-Russian finisher in the women's 15k classical was Aurelie Dabudyk of France, who was placed fifth on 49:13.8.

With the Winter Universiade cross-country lowering its curtain, powerhouse Russia collected a total of ten golds, five silvers and seven bronzes to finish atop. Japan was a distant second with two silvers while Ukraine and the Czech Republic each took home one silver and one bronze.
