Two-time Universiade champion Paulina Logocka from Poland broke her right arm before the final. Four Chinese skiers took part in the day's competition. 18-year-old Liu rallied to nail four big tricks that involved three full rotations in the air and got 46.7 points for her second run. The result put her in top place, 4.1 points ahead of her teammate, second-placed Sun Zhifeng. Another Chinese Xu Chen finished third.

On the men's side, Japan's Kazuhiro Kokubo won the gold, while Kim Ho-jun from South Korea edged out China's Zeng Xiaoye to take the silver.
