Yao Ming's hopes of taking part in August's Beijing Olympics are getting a boost. He underwent successful surgery on his injured left foot in the United States on Monday.

The Rockets team doctor Tom Clanton, who performed the surgery on the All-star center, said Yao was comfortable and recovering well after surgery. Yao is key to China's hopes of a medal in the Olympic basketball tournament at the August Games. And Clanton expressed that after 4 months' recuperation, Yao could resume his training.
