The games are drawing world attention to the participants, but the volunteers are also a highlight of the games. 25-year-old Wang Xiaobo is doing volunteer work in the swimming stadium. His job is to show the participants in and out. For many, it's hard to believe that Wang is a mentally disabled himself.

Wang Xiaobo, volunteer, said, "People on earth are like fingers, some are taller, some are shorter."(Journalist: "Which one do you think you are?" )"I'm like everyone else, I'm the best."

Ma Shiwen is a junior at Shanghai Foreign Studies University. She interprets for the Russian delegation. In the gymnastics contest, a girl would not make it through the competition if not for Ma's companionship. Eventually, Ma Shiwen helped the girl finish the competition, pretending to be her personal coach.

Russian delegation vice chief, said, "The volunteers have thought of everything, big or small and even those we haven't thought about. Many competitors see them as their brothers and sisters."

There are over 7,000 participants in the games this year, with 45 thousand volunteers assisting. The number overwhelms any other sports event in China. Every competitor has six volunteers helping them with all kinds of services. LQ, CCTV.
