Wrestling has been contested, in one form or another, at every one of the Summer Olympic Games since the birth of the modern Olympic movement in 1896. Every one, that is, except the 1900 Summer Olympics.

In Chinese, wrestling is called Shuai jiao – although this tends to refer specifically to the Chinese and Mongolian styles. These styles have, themselves, undergone considerable changes in both name and form, down through the centuries.
