It has long been the dream of Chinese people, for the Olympics to come to their country. So, imagine the delight, on July the 13th, 2001, when the announcement was made, that Beijing had been elected the host city of the Games of the 29th Olympiad!

Although the focus is naturally on Beijing, the fact is that several other cities – six of them in all – are hosting Olympic events.
