Tales of the Past from Zhoucun
Zhoucun has several claims to fame; for one thing, it’s the place where a Tang Dynasty Manichaean site was discovered. Manichaeism, which was founded in the third century by the Persian prophet Mani, spread to China along the Silk Road in the sixth century, at the time of the Tang Dynasty.

Episode 1
Zhoucun district is a town and district of agricultural land inside Zibo city. Its main industry is textiles and furniture manufacture. The centre of the commercial district has a recently rebuilt and refurbished area with traditional buildings.
Zhoucun is the biggest production base of spinning towels in China, It is the production base of spinning.
Episode 2
Zhoucun of Shandong Province is a district under the jurisdiction of Zibo City. It is famous for its annual lantern fair.
As early as in the 17th century, silk reeling and spun silk textile industry had been quite developed. This attracted a lot of merchants to the town and made it prosperous.
Episode 3
Better known in China as Mo-Ni Jiao, it was very quickly banned. As a result, buildings and inscriptions associated with Manichaeism are extremely rare. So, the discovery of the Manichaean site at Zhoucun, a long way from the Silk Road, sparked considerable interest. Among the scholars who came to investigate was Dr Ralph Kauz from the University of Munich in Germany.
