Intro:

Hello, I am Yang Rui and live. Xinjiang is one of the five major autonomous regions for minority nationalities in China. The political design started in the late 1940s when Inner Mongolia was granted autonomy following the end of the 2nd wold war in the Pacific theater. Western schoolars might compare our regional autonomy to federalism such as the one practiced in the US. But, China's process of decectralization is unique over the past six decades.  People in Xinjiang especially the Uygurs enjoy a high degree of self-rule in formulating their local legislation and practicing religious freedom.

Today we shall look at the economic dividends that the Uygur Chinese have been able to enjoy. Today, many Uygurs and those outside China are not sufficiently informed of the economic loss and gains between the central government and the disadvantaged minority groups that benefit enormously from the annual massive economic assistance. To take a closer look at the political and economic realities in Xinjiang, we are pleased to be joined here by Mr. Victor Gao Zhikai. In a short while, we will be talking to an American lawyer in a short telephone interview to discuss the benefits of the American federalism.
