Intro:

December 1st is the World Aids Day. This day is commemorated each year to raise the public awareness about the deadly HIV/AIDS epidemic. And it is even more urgent for the Chinese to know the prevention and treatment of such a killer disease although prevalence rate has slowed down in recent years in this country.

Further good news shows that there has been a positive sea change in the attitude of the government at different levels as they scaled up the HIV prevention and mitigation work. Part of the campaign is to reduce misconception and stigma surrounding the epidemic.

So far, confirmed cases of HIV/AIDS contraction are increasing despite the global intensive preventive campaign especially in the poverty-stricken sub-Sahara countries in Africa. But Uganda is one of the rare success stories as you may discover in our interview with professor Jing Jun from Tsinghua University and Mr. Ray Yip, China representative of the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation.
