With the opening of "Meet In Beijing Arts Festival" this week, the capital city will herald a jubilant season of music and other stage arts. Here's a preview of what excitement is coming to town.

The month-long "Meet In Beijing Arts Festival" kicks off on Tuesday. Fifty-eight shows of music, dance, and drama from over twenty countries will be staged for this year's festival. More than six-hundred artists will be involved.

Nine of the most promising young artists of China will open the festival. All nine artists are winners of national and international contests in categories such as piano, violin, and opera singing.

The renowned Kirov Ballet troupe from Mariinsky Theatre will travel all the way from Russia to close the arts festival. They have chosen to perform "Swan Lake" and "Giselle".

Other highlights include a "Tribute to Luciano Pavarotti", and "Carmen" by the Scotland Ballet, as well as a Spanish Flamenco Gala.

Spring of Sino-French Cultural Exchanges continues to entertain Chinese

Zhang Yu, the general director of China International Culture Corp. said, "We intend to introduce to China the diversity of the world's stage arts. Chinese people deserve to share these splendid performances with people in other parts of the world. "

Spring of Sino-French Cultural Exchanges continues to entertain Chinese with a French style. This year, the activity--encompassing French films, concerts and modern dances--will cover twenty cities in China. This is the fourth year of the cultural exchange event since its inception in 2006.
