The week-long Hong Kong Modern Dance show wraps up a week in Beijing, leaving the audience wanting more. The performers brought great range and energy with inspired performances for enthusiastic crowds. The Hong Kong City Dance company, and three independent troupes from the region came aglow filling the full-spectrum of charm in controlled movement. Four shows were fashioned in different styles. The last was Tuesday. The troupe was "passover," a name taken from the Bible.

Hong Kong City Dance troupe brought a potpourri featuring the full range of modern dance, Unlock Dancing Plaza showed the form's facility for portraying intense emotion. The Why-Me-Dance Group showed its trademark exuberance and unrestrained freedom. The Hong Kong Modern Dance show series closed with simple elegance, presented in a show called "Xin Xiang", which means smiling or a comforting fragrance, according to its choreographer, who is Christian.

"Shared Journey", the first piece of the show expressed the spirit of love and support among people. The performers were dressed in white, attesting to the purity of love. Their synchro movements carried a message that a tie once drawn cannot be severed. The simple setting allowed the audience to focus on the performance as the dancers, experience hardship, then rise again stronger than before.
