Special Report:   HK 10 Years

The 26th Hong Kong Film Awards announced its winners last Sunday. Stars from Hong Kong, Taiwan and the mainland attended the ceremony.

Tony Leung and Carina Lau denied rumors of a bust up and made a point of turning up hand in hand.

As for the awards themselves, Lau Ching-Wan, nominated eight times for Best Actor until now, finally took home the trophy, for his performance in "My Name is Fame".

Lau Ching-Wan said, "I feel very happy, very excited. But I didn't feel I have waited too long. Others told me 'you have been nominated for eight times', it's been too long, but I haven't felt this."

Recent years have seen more and more mainland stars muscling in on the Hong Kong trophies. And this year was no exception.

Mainland idol Gong Li took the Best Actress Award for "Curse of the Golden Flower", while Zhou Xun walked away with Best Supporting Actress for her role in "Banquet".

Zhou Xun said, "Actually I feel more happy to win a supporting actress trophy. Because all the plaudits are usually given to the lead roles, then the director, and all the other leading members of the production crew. But each department has a lot of assistants, like the assistant director, assistant cinematographer and they've all worked just as hard."
