Securities cooperation between mainland and HK

Since the return of Hong Kong, the central government had been encouraging mainland firms to get listed in Hong Kong's stock market, or have cooperation with local listed firms.

Meanwhile, it had also expanded the opening up of mainland securities sector to facilitate Hong Kong investments. By the end of May, the China Securities Regulatory Commission had approved 150 mainland companies to issue H shares in Hong Kong, while there are 96 mainland controlled Hong Kong firms listed in the region. They totally account for 51 percent in the total value of the Hong Kong stock market.
