Indonesian President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono inaugurated the meeting on Monday. Finance ministers from most of the ADB's 67 members are in attendance. According to an ADB estimate, Asia-Pacific growth will be 3.4 percent in 2009 and 6 percent in 2010. This would mean it remains the world's fastest-growing region. China's finance minister Xie Xuren is also participating.

He said China aims to continue with timely and effective measures to boost economic growth. This is after the economy performed better than expected in the first quarter. He also urged the ADB to step up aid to developing countries during the financial crisis. He said this would increase lending and streamline business procedures.
