As China's rising housing prices show no sign of abating, local governments are enacting measures to ensure shelter for low-income urban citizens.

The government in Southwest China's Chongqing Municipality of Chongqing has established a low-rent housing system, covering more than 55-hundred low-income families. The local government has also called for relevant departments to spend 5 percent of their net proceeds from land transfers on low-rent housing construction.
