Chinese President Hu Jintao has met Vietnam's leaders ahead of the APEC Economic Leaders' Meeting in Hanoi.

The two sides have agreed to fully promote bilateral ties and trade.

Hu Jintao met with his Vietnamese counterpart, Nguyen Minh Triet, and the General Secretary of Vietnam's Communist Party, Nong Duc Man. The top leaders of China and Vietnam are expected to witness the signing of a deal on a 418 million US dollars power plant in Vietnam to be funded largely by the China Export-Import Bank. China has been Vietnam's biggest trade partner since 1991, with trade between the two estimated to reach 10 billion US dollars this year. The Chinese President says the two nations should launch more joint efforts to elevate economic partnership to a new level. He also says, with China and Vietnam both being members of the WTO, they should push the development of multilateral trading system.
