Special Report:   Harbin 24th Winter Universiade

Harbin is receiving university students from around the world for the 24th Winter Universiade. The event begins in the capital of northeast China's Heilongjiang Province on Wednesday. It will be broadcast live on High Definition television.

The athletes' village of Harbin Winter Universiade is receiving participants from across the globe.

Delegations from Britain, South Korea and Japan each held a flag-raising ceremony in the athletes' village.

Training facilities are also ready for the athletes.

The curling venue is open for practice, with five international standard tracks. Athletes are also trying out the freshly renovated ice hockey stadium.
