Special Report:   President Hu visits 5 nations

DAR ES SALAAM, Feb. 15 (Xinhua) -- Visiting Chinese President Hu Jintao and his Tanzanian counterpart Jakaya Mrisho Kikwete met here Sunday to discuss the development of friendly and cooperative ties.

Hu is expected to exchange views with Kikwete on bilateral ties and the ongoing global financial crisis, Chinese diplomats said.

The two leaders will also discuss how to realize eight policy measures announced at the Beijing Summit of the China-Africa Cooperation Forum in 2006.

They are due to witness the signing of cooperation documents between the two countries.

Since their diplomatic ties were established 45 years ago, China and Tanzania have maintained a sound momentum in developing bilateral relations with close high-level exchanges, fruitful cooperation in all areas and mutual support in international affairs.

The Chinese president is currently on a five-nation tour, which has already taken him to Saudi Arabia, Mali and Senegal. He will go on his trip to Mauritius before returning to China.
