Tibetologists: Secessionist activities doomed to fail

Experts on Tibetan history say the purpose behind the riots on March 14th, instigated by the Dalai clique, was to undermine China's present system of ethnic regional autonomy and push for Tibet independence.
Xerab Nyi'ma, vice president of Central Univ. for Nationalities,said, "The Dalai clique calls for the autonomy of a 'Greater Tibet,' a term that had never before existed in Chinese history. The purpose is to instigate ethnic hatred between Tibetans and other ethnic groups."
Senior Tibetologists also say education among Tibetan monks should be enhanced, so that they can better follow the doctrines of mercy and benevolence, rather than violating laws with riots. |
Zha Luo, associate professor of Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, said, "Tibet is inhabited not only by Tibetans. Many other ethnic groups live there, with close economic and cultural exchanges. Multicultural coexistence is common in the world."
