The Arizona Senator has been projected to win Vermont and Ohio, and is expected to take another two primaries on Tuesday in Texas and Rhode Island.

After adding to 1,191 the number of the delegates who will vote for him at the nomination convention, McCain will secure his presidential candidacy and seal the Republican race. But his nomination will not be officially announced until the party's national convention in early September.

His only challenger, former Arkansas governor Mike Huckabee, is reportedly to announce his decision to drop out of the race as early as Thursday.

Citing Republican sources, CNN report said that President George W. Bush has planned to give his endorsement to the 71-year-old Vietnam veteran soon.
