The White House says it won't change policy based on new polls that show US President Barack Obama's popularity is slipping. Obama is trying to convince voters to support his new healthcare plan.
The heated national health care debate is taking a toll on President Barack Obama's popularity. A just released Rasmussen poll shows only 48% approve of the President's performance -- with 52% of those polled disapproving. Voters voiced concern and confusion about President Obama's plans to change the healthcare system.
Zee, New Yorker, said, "I'm concerned that those of us who are fortunate to have healthcare, our level of coverage will diminish."
Jeffrey Bank said, "Right now there's not a clear message of what is this new program."
The White House said that the Obama administration won't make any major change in public policy.
Obert Gibbs, White House Spokesman, said, "The President is making decisions based on what he thinks is the right thing to do, not based on some polling."
These are the President's worst poll numbers since taking office. His popularity has also been hit by a faltering U.S. economy.
