An estimated 20 thousand people were at the Staples Center in Los Angeles to attend the public memorial of pop superstar Michael Jackson.

Millions of fans around the world also paid tribute to their idol by watching the memorial on television or via the Internet -- live from Los Angeles.

Family, friends and fans eulogized Michael Jackson during a mournful ceremony in downtown Los Angeles.

The ceremony wrapped up with group performances of "We Are the World" and "Heal the World" sung by Lionel Richie, Jennifer Hudson and Jackson family members. (Song)

Then members of Jackson's family took the stage to thank the crowd and share their own thoughts. They were barely able to hide their emotions in the ceremony's final moments.

The most poignant moment was delivered by Jackson's sobbing 11-year-old daughter.
