Overseas reactions on violence in Urumqi

Overseas Chinese have expressed their anger and condemnation against the violence in Urumqi.

Huang keqiang, executive chairman of General Committee of Eastern American Chinese Assn., said, "On behalf of our committee, I express my strongest condemnation to the serious violent criminal incident in Xinjiang."

Yang Baofeng, chairman of Canada Beijing Association, said, "Many innocent civilians were hurt or killed. It is very hurtful to the people from our motherland and to us overseas Chinese."

Peng Liangjian, deputy chairman, Toronto Chinese Media Association, said, "We can see this is an overseas-organized incident with premeditation and planning."

Wu Huiqiu, chairman of Ameican Washington Association for Peaceful Unification of China, said, "We think the rioters are very cruel, the people they hurt were innocent civilians."

Yao Wei, secretary-general of Belgian Chinese Women's Association, said, "We feel great pain, especially seeing so many innocent people, police, and children losing their lives during the violence. Overseas Chinese women in Europe are very angry."

Luo Yuhong, editor-in-chief, Chinese Business Times, Belgium, said, "We will reflect the heart-felt strong support for the Chinese government, and objection to the separatists from overseas Chinese."

A Chinese student of American University, said, "We believe our government will handle it properly. Stability is the foundation of the construction of our country. I hope our country will get stronger."
