On the sidelines of the SCO summit, President Hu Jintao met separately with his Uzbek counterpart Islam Karimov and Indian Prime Minister Manmohan Singh.

During the meeting with Uzbek President Islam Karimov, Hu Jintao said China is ready to work with Uzbekistan to strengthen bilateral ties.

The Chinese president proposed that the two countries give full play to the intergovernmental economic and trade cooperation committee to boost the growth of two-way trade. He said the two sides should deepen cooperation in areas such as transport, energy and telecommunications.

Hu Jintao also said China is willing to enhance bilateral cooperation in the financial sector to jointly guard against global financial risks.

Karimov said his country will strengthen cooperation with China in various fields. He also said Uzbekistan firmly supports China on the issue of Taiwan and issues related to Tibet.
