The news conference was Ahmadinejad's first meeting with reporters since the presidential election results were announced.

Ahmadinejad defended his re-election in the country's "most glorious" election. He said Iranians chose the one whose policies they trust the most.

Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, Iranian President, said, "Nearly 40 million people took part in this election, the ballot taking system in Iran is precise. The election belongs to people, therefore carrying it out and supervising it is being done by the people themselves. The members of polling stations all around the country were the people themselves."

Ahmadinejad defended his foreign policies, especially the nuclear issue. He insisted Iran's nuclear controversy is in the past, signaling that there would be no change in his second term.

Talking about the unrest on the streets by his rival camp, Iran's president-elect said the protests would disappear after a while, just like those angry fans wreaking havoc after losing a football match.
