Wang Qishan stressed that the China-US Strategic and Economic Dialogue is vital for guiding the two-way relationship into a new era. The Vice Premier and Secretary Geithner will co-host the economic portion of the dialogue.

Wang Qishan said talks should focus on long-term and strategic issues, strengthening coordination and communication on important matters, and achieving a win-win solution on equal footing. He emphasized that cooperation is critical for reviving the global economy.

For his part, Secretary Geithner said the world is going through an exceptionally challenging period, and by working together, the US and China could lay down a foundation for recovery, and begin reforms that will allow a stronger, more balanced relationship in the future.
