Iran launches surface-to-surface missile successfully

Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad has claimed the country has successfully launched an advanced surface-to-surface missile.

The missile has a reported range of about 2,000 kilometers, far enough to strike Israel and southeastern Europe.

Iran's official IRNA news agency reported Ahmadinejad made the announcement during a visit to the northern province of Semnan, where the Sajjil 2 missile was launched.
