I love my job!

My first month-long assignment! *phew* It’s pretty tough being on the road for so long but really, I have THE best job in the world so while you’re slaving away at the office (sorry to rub it in), take some time off, procasinate and let me tell you about my trip.

One of the first things that struck me about Xinjiang was how beautiful and varied the landscape was. At times, I felt like I was in New Zealand, surrounded by open fields, SHEEP and snow-capped mountains and at other times, in Morrocco, buying spices and nuts from the local market. I’ve only been in China 3 months and it was so refreshing to find the varied cultures of the minority groups tied into Han Chinese culture.

We started our journey in Urumqi and travelled to Turpan, Kuche, Kuerle, Kashgar, Yining, Nalati and Aletai. I won’t tell you about every part of the journey because it’d be the length of a mini novel, I’ll just focus on the sights that were particularly significant to me and give you the low down behind the scenes for the 3 episodes we filmed in Xinjiang.
