This system diverts upstream Minjiang River into 2 major manmade channels--the outer and the inner river.

Treasure bottleneck controls the water volume and evacuates excessive water to outer river during flood season. Located at Guanghan county 40km from Chengdu Sanxingdui site is one of the most important historical remains of Sichuan region.

Baoguang temple is famous for housing Buddha's finger bone in this pagoda. If you look at this pagoda carefully, obviously it is tilting towards west, the direction where the Buddha is supposed to live...

The Baoguang (Divine Light) Temple is 18 kilometers north of Chengdu, and is supposed to have been built as early as the Eastern Han Dynasty.

2 young masters graduated from Buddhist College in Chengdu and a few years ago moved down here working on building up this earlier abandoned temple. Daily rituals here seemed to be less restrictive but still certainly not taken with laches. Besides morning and evening lessons, they keep their hands busy and mind easy with Chinese traditional medicine and even, yes, calligraphy.

Visiting Buddhist temples can sound humdrum, esp. 3 in one street in one little town in one day. but temples here so much a part of the town, visiting them is almost as casual and ease like strolling around the rest part of the ancient town.

There is the saying in China: When you are young, don't come to Sichuan. It is so comfortable, it will wear off your worldly ambition; when you are grey-haired, don't ever leave here. You won't find a better place to spend your skim pension. I fully understand it. I understand that much better now.
