Have you seen anything like this before?
No... I think there is really something special about mountains in china. They are so lush and vivid. Watching the sunrise on the top of the clouds is simply amazing鈥 /font>
Even I haven't seen anything like this before either, how about John?
I have been here for a long time. This is the first time! Amazing!
Hi, welcome to travelogue. We are still in Chengdu area, but 80km away, 3000 meters above. Isn't that great? In a beautiful morning, feeling on the top of the world, do whatever we would like to do... right now. The sunrise!
Few have actually conquered its snow capped peak of Xiling Snow Mountain that rises more than 5300 meters at its highest. But thanks to the cable lift ride the night before, we cheated our way up to the 3000 meters height effortlessly.
We were compelled to inhale deeply to digest such a breathtaking view.
Against such a stunning backdrop, even practicing the most basic yoga movement-Sun Solute felt completely magical.
Feeling charged with extra doses of oxygenic, solar and spiritual energy, we set off for a hardcore hiking trip!
Xiliang Snow Mountain is one of the most popular snow resorts during the winter in entire southwest China. But during off-ski season it turns much quieter and almost deserted. It surprised me how other hikers could miss out such a perfect trail. It was to our benefit though, left alone in such stunning scenery.
We set up a goal finding a mysterious spot called Yinyangjie a few kilometers further up. But none of us actually cared much about the destination while hiking towards it. When you are already hiking here,
Have you done bungee jump before?
No, have you?
Yes, so this is just a piece of cake. Now this is my favorite position, don't make me move!
Never tried before? You should not pass on the chance. But how fun is grass ski? How fun is it feeling like wearing a mini tractor or a grass clipper under feet?
Chengdu wildlife safari park is a carefully designed to forge a mini-scale natural environment of its own. It deceives even many migratory birds who come uninvited every year.
Visitors are allowed to cruise inside the "African meadow" freely.
No cage bars or window glass blocking in between, with mutual respect and curiosity from both parts, it is hard to tell who is under watch.
Maybe the motor generated tour buss sounded slightly disturbing? Someone decided to take action...
Food is supposed to help to allure... but hey, you are strange, just like me!
After quite some time of careful evaluation...
Thank goodness of him, I didn't miss this!
Ever since I was a little girl, circus has always been simply magical to me.
Yes, the world inside the tent is a wonderland with everything every kid could ever wish for: Things all in glitter and glaze; all these cheers and laughter. Adults acting like kids, animals understand men....
And of course, the clowns! Where else can you ever meet the ever happy face outside of a circus tent?!
Well, not far away!
If you are reluctant to let your fantasy moments ends too soon, even when the show is over, you can still jump in the dance parade afterward, leaving the fairyland a high note.
If you have followed my previous trip, you should have learned a lot about bamboo by now. But the one I am going to visit now, doest not love for what bamboo symbolizes or represents, he simply loves it, love it to death, and love it for what it is!
Giant Panda, China's most famous animal ambassador do have a very busy daily schedule-feeding them self, up to 14 hours per day! An adult panda eats around 40kg bamboo leaves and stems per day.
Chengdu Giant Panda Breeding and Research Center is a research base with the goal of breeding pandas in captivity. More than 50 pandas have been successfully born here. Morning is the best time visiting Panda Breeding Base, when panda is most active.
Located on the upper reaches of Minjiang River west of Guanxian County, Dujiangyan is one of the world's first irrigation systems that are still in operation. It was built between 306-251 BC under the guidance of Li Bing, then leader of Shu Prefecture in the kingdom of Qin.
You perhaps are wondering why you should include an irrigation system into your travel itinerary. But it is really highly recommended. Besides the scenery, you should really understand the significance of the system. Without it, there would not be any place of abundance, today's heaven on earth Sichuan.
This system diverts upstream Minjiang River into 2 major manmade channels--the outer and the inner river.
Treasure bottleneck controls the water volume and evacuates excessive water to outer river during flood season. The spillway "Flying Sand" Feishayan weir drains the flood water and takes away sediment. During dry seasons, it works the reversed way, water is diverted from outer river into inner river to irrigate the fertile farmland of the Chengdu plains.
Entire Dujiangyan project is completely ecological friendly project. It borrows natural kinetic energy, working with natural environment instead of attempting to completely tame it.
It is both Sichuan folk custom and Chinese Taoist tradition to immortalize outstanding historical people into legendary figures.
To commemorate the genius, Li Bing, Sichuan people rebuilt a Taoist temple into a memorial palace dedicated to him and his son, who is actually a legendary figure.
In local's belief, The man behind the incredible project, the man whose achievements are truly larger than life, is still standing here guarding the entire place of abundance: Chengdu plain.
Located at Guanghan county 40km from Chengdu Sanxingdui site is one of the most important historical remains of Sichuan region.
It revivifies a remote part of the history of ancient Sichuan and gives archeologists many angels to reason out ancient Shu people's mysterious Primitive Faith.
Various theories are proposed in an attempt to explain what these masks are used for. Many believes the theandric-looking masks in god's spirit, human's facial expression revealing the psyches and mores of ancient Shu people--worshiping both the deified king and ancestors.
But unlike the golden masks of Tutankhamen, none of these masks in various sizes are believed to be worn. (There are theories that they are to be hang on the sacrificing alter or to be held by koradji when dancing.) No one is sure. All we are sure today is when ancient Egyptians bowing to their god of the sun, ancient Shu people were also praying to the same direction....
Baoguang temple is famous for housing Buddha's finger bone in this pagoda. If you look at this pagoda carefully, obviously it is tilting towards west, the direction where the Buddha is supposed to live...
The Baoguang (Divine Light) Temple is 18 kilometers north of Chengdu, and is supposed to have been built as early as the Eastern Han Dynasty.
Among hundreds of relic and artifacts, the Divine Light Temple literally shines here. A solid golden pagoda houses the most treasurable Buddhist relic-Buddha鈥檚 bone that was said to be brought back by a wondering monk all the way from Burma in Tang dynasty.
Arhat known as Luohan in Chinese, literally means "worthy of respect". It is a Sanskrit Buddhist term conferred to Buddhist saints who have destroyed foes and reached nirvana yet still provide a temporal link between the present time and that of the future Buddha.
Lost its glory as central waterway conjunction, today's Huanglongxi is a small quiet town almost forgotten except for the movie world. It has been chosen to be outer scene location for dozens of popular historical melodramas. As matter of fact, the original stone paved allies and wooden attic houses do suggest a surreal feel of movie sets, good enough backdrop for a skimpy budget cooking program.
If you don't eat meat, beans are the best protein substitute. I am gonna show you the first step how it is made. Do you know that? Tofu is originally coming from China!
This must be the smallest and most homey nunnery I have ever been,
2 young masters graduated from Buddhist College in Chengdu and a few years ago moved down here working on building up this earlier abandoned temple. Daily rituals here seemed to be less restrictive but still certainly not taken with laches. Besides morning and evening lessons, they keep their hands busy and mind easy with Chinese traditional medicine and even, yes, calligraphy.
Visiting Buddhist temples can sound humdrum, esp. 3 in one street in one little town in one day. but temples here so much a part of the town, visiting them is almost as casual and ease like strolling around the rest part of the ancient town.
There is the saying in China: When you are young, don't come to Sichuan. It is so comfortable, it will wear off your worldly ambition; when you are grey-haired, don't ever leave here. You won't find a better place to spend your skim pension. I fully understand it. I understand that much better now. I have to go, but you should be happy about it, so I can show you somewhere even more wonderful next time. I am Yanlng, you have been watching travelogue, see you soon!
