Guizhou is literally translated as an expensive province, but nothing here is expensive, maybe except the sunshine. Welcome to Travelogue, welcome to the mountains and waters of Guizhou.

Sitting here on China's Southwestern Yunnan-Guizhou plateau, Guizhou province is endowed with a rich cultural heritage that is still alive among its many ethnic groups. The exotic customs and festivals celebrated by the many minority peoples here provide an historical documentary that reveals centuries of culture. Adventure seekers coming here will find everything they're looking for in terms of natural wonders while those of you with a bent for anthropology will find fascinating evidence of earlier societies all around the region. Whatever your reason for coming to Guizhou, you'll be enchanted by its wild and untouched beauty.

Tianxingqiao Park is our first stop, 45 kilometers southwest of Anshun, a major city in Southwest Guizhou. The park features various grotesque limestone formations that provide an ideal hiking environment. But beware. It would take hours to trek through the whole park, and if you’re not careful, you risk getting lost in the maze formed by the natural stones. These Karst limestone formations have been carved and shaped by years and years of water erosion.

The river runs through dozens of meters below is called the Baishuihe, meaning, the white water river. Before it comes down to Tianxingqiao, the White water river tumbles down a huge cliff, dashing into a famous name in China, Huangguoshu.

During the rainy season, the waterfall is 84 meters wide and cascades down 71 meters from the cliff. Intrepid travelers can actually get behind the water fall, going through a cave dripping with water from above. But nobody is allowed to approach the waterfall from below, where the small lake possesses an unfathomable depth. There is legend that once upon a time someone has spotted a rhino her thus the small lake is named Rhino Lake.
