cctv.com 12-10-2003 14:54

Sasquatch, or more commonly known as 'Big Foot' is the legend in this area. Sightings of this so-called hairy monster can be traced back, almost 3,000 years. 'The Clinical Phrase Book of Various Disease Surgery', published by Beijing medical dictionary, in Tibetan format, recorded that 'Big Foot', appeared in the southwest of China. Locals called it 'Snowman'

In May 1976 a total of six people said that they had spotted the legendary 'big foot' of separate occasions.

To follow the story, the China Science Research Institute, the Beijing Natural Science Museum, and, Beijing's Science Education Film Production Company, also sent a research team to the region. They undertook 60 days of on-site investigation, in an area of 300 square kilometers, walked over 1,000 kilometers in the deep forest and concluded from their research that Bigfoot does exist!

Bigfoot was a journalistic term generated in the middle of the last century during a rush of sightings in Northern California; its use is not unreasonable since the species has proportionally much bigger feet than those of human beings, furthermore, the word has come to be recognized widely.

In the search for Bigfoot, or any evidence of its existence, many researchers and interested parties have undertaken years of investigation in the forest of Shen Nong Jia. The fact that there is a definite lack of equipment and support from professional agencies, has sadly had an impact on the evidence produced. And even to this day, there is nothing solid, to prove 'big foot' is really out there.

When walking through the ancient trees, knowing that are many unidentified wild creatures behind the think layers of fog, you can't help but wonder whether big foot is stood behind a tree watching. It could stimulate extreme travelers.

Interestingly, the description given by The Bigfoot Field Researchers Organization is derived from a compilation of hundreds of eyewitness reports from the entire world, some of astounding length, detail, evidence. In the first instance, the Patterson movie, taken in 1967, and its more recent computer based image analysis, provides actual footage of the so-called 'bigfoot'.

Secondly, there's a large database full of statistical information that has been accumulated over the fifty years by John Green.

'Big Foot' is the mystery outside the resort, but a true concern of the locals.

A native Bigfoot researcher, Li Guo Hua has studied the mystery for almost 30 years, he says that he has spotted 'Big Foot' in the mountain a total of three times. Mr. Li is very confident about the development and he confirmed that local villagers have had the experience of dealing with the creature.

The Local Forest Protection Agency has dispatched monthly security teams to patrol the region for the last 30 years.

Normally 3 experienced officers and 1 policeman unite as one team. They parole the forest for one week each trip, conducting research on animals and plants. Another important assessment is to prohibit intruders stealing valuable herbs and illegal deforestation.
