Qujing

    Qujing is located in the east of the Yun Nan province and sits in the middle of Yungui mountain plateau. The average altitude is about 2,000 meters. The highest point of this region reaches 4,017 meters and the lowest is 695.

    Qujing's boundary is quite clear occupying 215 kilometers from east to west and 302 kilometers from north to south. The total territory is 32,565 square kilometers.


    The climate in Qujing is very comfortable and pleasant, warm and mild, it is known as 'spring at all seasons'. There are areas of upland grazing as well as land devoted to the cultivation of rice, winter wheat, tea, beans, soya, hemp and rape.

    The nearest airport to Qujing is situated in Kunming, the provincial capital that is about 138 kilometer away. The drive will take about 3 hours due to the complicated mountain road and busy traffic.

    Qujing is famous for both historical culture and natural scenery. In the first instance Jiulong waterfalls are unique and charming and one of the main water sources for the communities. Secondly, the Duoyi River is a natural beauty spot and attracts many local ethnic groups making it one of the best tourist attractions in China. Finally, the Luliang sand forest is rare and outstanding- annually drawing sand sculpture artists from all over the world to participate in the International Sand Sculpture Festival.


    Nevertheless more than 7.8% of the total population is ethnic groups including Yi, Hui, Zhuang, Buyi, Miao, Yao and shui. Its rich cultural heritage, diverse and spectacular landscapes are all unique and difference.

    Prosperous natural resource is one of the significant valuable elements of Qujing. Tobacco production is listed on the top of all industries. Almost a half of the total supreme quality tobaccos in yunnan are produced in Qujing. Natural gas is well developed in both Luliang and Bao Shan. Efficient and influential Lubuge power station is well recognized worldwide.
