Yi Jianlian promises to play in Asian Championships

Yao Ming's hopes of representing China in the upcoming Asian Basketball Championships were ended when he broke his foot in the NBA playoffs. But New Jersey Nets forward Yi Jianlian is sure he will play in the event, rturning to China on Monday.

The most famous person in his hometown of Shenzhen, Yi was busy filming a promotional video for his city after his arrival. While he's in China, the NBA player will be busy with some commercial activities. After the break, Yi will head back to the US and prepare for his third NBA season.

But the forward said he will join the national side after the training for the Asian Championships, which take place from August 6th to 16th in Tianjin.

Yi Jianlian, China forward, said, "I will return to the US soon and undergo training there. After that, I will be back and join the national team. I have not fixed the exact timetable with the national team, but for sure, I will play in the Asian Championships."
