MADRID, May 10 (Xinhua) -- English driver Jenson Button on Sunday won the F1 Barcelona Grand Prix, fifth in this year's world championships and Button's fourth consecutive victory, extending his lead over second place Rubens Barrichello, his partner in the Brawn squad.

Spain's Fernando Alonso, twice world champion and riding for Renault, ended fifth after a great race. He was eighth on the starting grid, but improved two places at the start of the race and overtook teammate Felipe Massa, from Brazil, during the last lap. Massa ended sixth.

England's Lewis Hamilton, the current world champion, ended ninth and did not earn any points. Finland's Kimi Raikkonen, 2007's champion, also failed to earn any points, having left the race due to prolems with his Ferrari.

Following are the drivers' standings after Sunday's race:

1. Jenson Button, 41 points, Brawn

2. Rubens Barrichelo, 27, Brawn

3. Sebastian Vettel, 23, Red Bull

4. Mark Webber, 15.5, Red Bull

5. Jarno Trulli, 14.5, Toyota

The next race is the May 24, Monte Carlo Grand Prix in Monaco.
