Jenson Button of Brawn GP took pole position in the qualifying for the Spanish Formula 1 Grand Prix in Barcelona. His teammate Rubens Barrichello was third, with Red Bull's Sebastian Vettel sitting in the second position.
Formula 1 returns to Europe this weekend after stints in the Asia Pacific. Ferrari made some move early in the qualifying. Felipe Massa finished 4th, not a bad result considering their recent poor run of form. Defending champion Lewis Hamilton didn't even make it to the last session, finishing 14th.
But it was world championship leader Button who took center stage again. He claimed his third pole of the season with a record Circuit de Catalunya track time of 1 minute, 20.527 seconds. That means Brawn GP will start Sunday's race in 1st and third position.
