Madrid's new Magic Box tennis venue officially opened on Friday. International musician Lenny Kravitz was the leading act, putting on a spectacular show at the opening gala.

The Magic Box is centrepiece in the city's 2016 Olympic bid, and was designed as the state of the art venue for indoor and outdoor tennis in the northern hemisphere.

But for one night it staged sound and light acrobatic shows as well as the New York rock star. Despite the impressive design it was Kravitz the crowds were waiting for.
