The Shanghai leg started in Shanghai Institute of Foreign Trade at 9:30 in the morning. The torch's route passes Songjiang New Town, Donghua University and will arrive at Shanghai Sunshine Rehabilitation Center.
60 torchbearers, including Zhao Jihong, one of China's first paralympic gold medallists, will pass the torch along a 3.1-kilometer route. 10 of the 60 torchbearers are disabled, and each of them will run 50 meters.
Situated on the bank of the Yangtze River Delta and nicknamed "Paris of the East", Shanghai is considered as one of the most vibrant cities of the world, and the most modern city in China.
The Beijing Paralympic torch relay is traveling along two routes, namely the route of "modern China" and the route of "ancient China". Shanghai leg is the third stop of the "Modern China" route.
