Special Report:   2008 European Championships

A beleaguered Turkey team were preparing for their Euro 2008 semi-final with Germany in Basel on Tuesday. Fatih Terim's side have overcome the odds time after time in making it through to the last four - last minute goals have become their speciality. Now they must confound the footballing world once more - but their task against Germany looks almost beyond even them.

A series of suspensions coupled with some crucial injuries have left only 13 players available for selection - but coach Terim refuses to capitulate in the face of such devastation to his squad.

Turkey coach Fatih Terim said, "At this point I think we just have to look to the future and look forward and think about tomorrow and just accept the facts as they are. I think we should accept that the players that will replace the suspended and the injured ones will do just as well. We are not looking for any excuses and if these are the facts, we will go with the facts."

In a curtailed news conference, Germany coach Joachim Low warned Turkey his side are well primed for their semi-final.

Germany coach Joachim Low said, "The Turkish team has shown so far that they have a very good spirit because they have come from behind three times - that shows you how strong their spirit is. We had a setback against Croatia and I think we have overcome it very well. We are free from any worries over injured players and we will be very confident in our opinion of the match."
