Special Report:   2008 European Championships

In the latest game of the European Championships, Turkey beat Croatia on Friday in Vienna. The game finished in a 1-1 draw at the end of extra time, before a 3-1 penalty shootout win put Turkey through to the semifinals.

Turkish goalkeeper Rustu Recber saved a penalty, while two Croatian players failed to hit the target in the tournament's first shootout drama. Feelings were running high in the fan zone in the immediate aftermath of the match, with altercations between both sets of fans. Police and first aid workers said more than a dozen Croatian fans needed medical treatment.

Turkey will face Germany in the semifinals on Wednesday in Basel, Switzerland.
