Special Report:   2008 European Championships

Elsewhere, a place in the quarter finals beckons for the Czech Republic if they can overcome Portugal. Karel Bruckner's side beat the co-hosts in their opening Group A game, but will start as the clear underdogs against a much fancied Portuguese outfit. The 68-year old Bruckner is one of the most experienced coaches in world football - he confessed he is well aware of the improvements that need to be made.

Karel Bruckner, Czech Republic coach, said, "I think the optimum solution is to improve both in attack and defence. At the same time, the Portuguese team are very efficient, their forwards and strikers are excellent. But there are other ways to get a good result - we must play as a team, play strategically. We know we are not as strong in attack, but that doesn't mean we are a weaker team."
